ASKO appliances - made to clean and stay gleaming clean

How easy is it to keep everything sparkling with ASKO? Read on to find out!

The Swedish appliance manufacturer ASKO has won high ratings for its durable, high-performance, energy-efficient home appliances.

They’re also easy to keep fresh and shiny clean.

ASKO Dishwashers

ASKO 8 Steel™

ASKO’s trademarked, advanced-grade steel 8 Steel™ construction not only makes their dishwashers super resistant to rust or corrosion. It also makes them highly stain resistant and easy to keep pristine clean with minimal effort.

ASKO’s Self-cleaning program

Thanks to its high-grade stainless steel, your ASKO dishwasher tub will clean itself with regular use.

Running the self-clean cycle on a regular basis will keep it sparkling and prevent limescale deposits from building up if your water is hard.

  • When it’s empty of dishes, put two tablespoons of citric acid in the manual detergent compartment.
  • You can also use a store-bought dishwasher cleaner made specifically for this purpose.
  • (Never use anti-freeze, Draino®, CLR®, or other chemical cleaners in your dishwasher.)
  • Select and run the self-cleaning cycle.

How to clean dishwasher filters

Dishwashers have a coarse and a fine filter to catch loose food particles and debris, so they won’t clog your drain. Your dishwasher will perform better and stay fresh smelling when you clean out its filters regularly.

  • The filters in ASKO dishwashers come out very easily.
  • How often you should remove and clean them will depend on how frequently your dishwasher is run.
  • Start by doing it once a month and then go on from there.

How to clean dishwasher spray arms

The self-cleaning cycle will rinse out openings in the spray arms, helping to keep them free of debris and ensuring even water flow.

  • It’s not necessary to remove the spray arms to give them a quick clean. Just wipe them down with warm, soapy water.
  • To give them a deep clean, give them a soak in a sink full of warm water and vinegar.
  • At the same time, clear out any debris stuck in the openings with a soft brush or toothpick.

How to clean a dishwasher door seal

Being made of high-grade steel, ASKO door seals won’t crack or grow mold. Just give them a wipe down now and then.

ASKO Laundry

ASKO vented, condensation and heat pump drying systems

How you maintain your dryer will partly depend on which system you’ve chosen, but all dryers have lint traps, AKA lint filters.

Cleaning the lint trap is a must!

Why is it so important to wipe out the lint trap of your dryer after every use?

Here’s the good news first: A clean lint trap will let air flow more evenly, drying clothes more quickly and saving energy. In other words, wiping out the lint after every load is a five-second task that will save you time and money.

But that’s not all. It will also keep a fire hazard at bay. Lint buildup is the number one cause of dryer fires… and dryer fires are one of the most common causes of household fires!

  • ASKO lint traps are easy to remove and replace.
  • Simply lift it out and gather up the lint.

A word to the wise…

Fabric softener sheets are coated in a film that can gum up a dryer’s components, reducing airflow and efficiency and increasing the risk of overheating. Overheating combined with a buildup of lint is, you guessed it, a fire hazard.

For this reason, ASKO manuals specify that fabric softener sheets should not be used. They suggest liquid fabric softener, instead.

Or toss in a cloth lightly sprayed with distilled vinegar and some wool or silicone dryer balls in with your laundry load to reduce static and speed up drying.

Maintenance for your vented dryer duct

If you have a vented unit, get your ducts cleaned on a yearly basis to maintain your dryer’s performance and avoid fire hazards.

Maintenance for your condensation or heat pump dryers

These systems don’t require an external duct and can be installed in any room, and they offer considerable energy savings. That combo of convenience and lowered energy bills make them a top choice for many.

  • These kinds of dryers capture moisture in a condensate tank that must be emptied regularly.
  • To keep this simple, many ASKO dryers allow you to connect a hose to a drain or sink to automatically drain the tank.
  • ASKO heat pump dryers have an additional filter that is easy to remove and clean.
  • The control display will provide a warning when it needs cleaning.

Getting an ASKO washer means saying goodbye to moldy rubber seals!

Most clothes washers have a rubber door seal that is annoyingly fiddly to clean and dry. If that isn’t done after every wash cycle, it will go black and stinky with mold — and that’s the last thing you want anywhere near your clothing and linens!

With no rubber crevices to collect dirt and mold, ASKO’s innovative Steel Seal™, leak-free door eliminates the need to go through all that.

In fact, each component of ASKO’s washers is designed to be easy to clean.

  • To clear the filter trap of little odds and ends that snuck into your washer in unemptied pockets or pet hair, run the Drain program to empty all the water out of it and unplug it before following the directions in your machine’s manual.
  • Since detergent trays are often damp, they can be a breeding ground for mold and mildew. Over time, this buildup can lead to unpleasant smells and even black mold, which can transfer to your clothes. On most ASKO washers, you press a release tab or lever to remove the tray, which can be soaked in a bath of warm water and a little mild dish soap for 10-15 minutes.
  • Run the Self Clean program to clean the inside of your washer drum. Detergents made for low temperature washing can leave a residue that will accumulate in the drum and might lead to odours. Simply run the self-cleaning program once per month to prevent that.
  • Clean your washer’s exterior and display with a soft damp cloth and water. (Do not use any solvents or abrasive cleaners as they could damage the surface of your machine.)
