Do you need to clean your dishwasher?

Blomberg has a solution

Bad News. Your Dishwasher is Probably Filthy.

Have you ever opened your dishwasher to discover a nasty odour?

Even though its one job is to clean, modern dishwashers can attract a build-up of food debris, grease and soap scum. If you don’t clean it out, you will discover that it can get quite smelly. What’s worse, a filthy dishwasher becomes a breeding ground for germs and reduces the efficiency of the appliance.

Good News. You Can Clean It!

Don’t fret, yet! There are two simple, natural home remedies that are tried and tested. These secret recipes are probably sitting in your pantry.
Vinegar and baking soda will freshen up your dishwasher in no time and are safe for you and your family.

How Do I Clean My Dishwasher?

Vinegar is the bomb

Plain vinegar has been a household cleaning solution for many years. It has cleaning and deodorizing powers that will have your dishwasher scrubbed up in no time. What’s more, vinegar will expel and halt the growth of mold spores mold spores, halting the growth of mold. Mold can be an issue in dishwashers because it thrives in warm, moist environments.

Select a short wash cycle and let the dishwasher fill with water (you will be able to hear it). After it has filled, open the door and pour 1 cup of vinegar into the water. Close the door and let the dishwasher complete the cycle.

Baking soda rinse

To make sure that you have killed off any lingering foul odours a baking soda rinse will do the trick. Sprinkle 1 cup of baking soda in the bottom of your dishwasher. Let it sit overnight. In the morning, run a short, hot water cycle (with no dishes).

The baking soda will brighten the interior of your dishwasher, removing stains and leave you with a sparkling fresh machine!

Place several tablespoons of baking soda into where you would normally add detergent to your dishwasher (the detergent cup). Select a quick wash cycle and let the water circulate about 5 minutes. Then open the door to stop the wash cycle and let it stand. If possible, leave it overnight and then restart the dishwasher to let it finish the cycle in the morning, by closing the door.

Elbow grease

Sometimes there is just no other way. Reaching into the ickier parts of your dishwasher to clear any food scraps that are clogging the machine, might be the solution to your smells. Scrubbing your dishwasher is a sure way to get rid of odour- and bacteria-causing debris.

Remove the bottom rack and check the drain for any blockages caused by food. The door seal on a dishwasher is also prone to mold spots or food sticking to it. A little bit of a scrub will loosen any grime. A toothbrush is the perfect size to reach any hard-to-get debris. Scrub gently a paste of baking soda and water until the grime is gone.

Great News. A self-cleaning dishwasher.

If scrubbing and rinsing do not sound like your idea of fun. Or, you simply do not have time to regularly give your dishwasher the thorough cleaning it needs to stay hygienic, then Blomberg has unveiled a solution. A dishwasher that cleans itself!

Blomberg DWT81900SS is one of the first self-cleaning dishwashers on the market. Its smart, self-cleaning features mean that you can relax and let the machine take care of itself.

It has an in-built self-cleaning filter that works a lot like an internal garbage disposal system. This filter breaks down chunky bits of food and eliminates the waste. This saves you the most unpleasant part of dishwasher maintenance.
The Blomberg DWT81900SS also features the innovative and unique ProCare cycle. This is the system’s interior cleaning cycle, which flushes out the dishwasher. When you activate ProCare, the system sprays hot water and regular detergent directly onto the walls and racks to blast off any stubborn food or grime.

This invention is an industry first and such a great idea. You can run the cleaning cycle monthly depending on how frequently you use the dishwasher, and how heavily soiled the plates usually are. The best part is, no more scrubbing. Your dishwasher won’t smell and you will get a more effective clean in every cycle without needing to do any heavy lifting. The Blomberg DWT81900SS does it all for you. What luxury!

So, goodbye germs, hello shiny, clean plates.

Technical

The self-cleaning system pumps pressurized water through a rotating sprinkler. This breaks down and rinses away any food residue from the filtration system. Regular use of the self-clean cycle will prevent smells, grime, and keep your dishes perfectly clean.
